The UN now estimates that 1.5 million
people have been affected by the devastation wreaked by cyclone Nargis,
with the death toll thought to be over 100,000. Two to three million are homeless, in a disaster on a scale comparable with the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Many victims are said to be dehydrated or suffering from injuries that have not been treated. |
