Conflict in Pakistan - 2009

Due to the conflict between the Pakistan Army and the Taliban in the Swat Valley area of the NW Province some 2 million people have been forced to flee their homes. Temporary refugee camps have been set up away from the fighting but families need access to clean water and other essential household items with which to survive.

At the request of Oxfam one hundred Water-Survival Boxes were sent to Islamabad where the local Oxfam co-ordinator distributed them to those families most in need. More than 700 people benefited from this consignment.

The report of the Oxfam co-ordinator is attached and is published with the agreement of Oxfam GB.
